Carnival 2024 in Lloret de Mar, Blanes, and Tossa

A Display of Joy on the Costa Brava

The South Costa Brava Carnival is about to envelop the charming towns of Lloret de Mar, Blanes, and Tossa de Mar in an explosion of color, music, and joy. This year, from February 9th to the 24th, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant local tradition that unites these three locations in a unique celebration.

Lloret de Mar: A Grand Celebration

The heart of the Carnival will beat stronger in Lloret de Mar, where the Grand Carnival Parade will take to the streets on Saturday, February 10th at 5:00 PM, continuing on Sunday, February 11th at 12:00 PM and then at 5:00 PM in Blanes. Tossa will close this festivity on Saturday, February 24th at 4:30 PM. This parade will feature eleven stunning floats and a comparsa, attracting more than 120,000 spectators along its route.

Creativity will be at its peak with costume contests at the workplace and commercial establishments, as well as in the streets on February 10th from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. In addition, music and partying will continue throughout the weekend with live concerts, highlighting local artists such as Paco La Voz & Bertran’s Show and Sixtus with DJ Dudux.

The programming will culminate on Wednesday, 14th with the peculiar “Burial of the Sardine,” a tradition that mixes solemnity and fun. The community will come together to follow the procession from the plaza dels Germans Maristes to the beach, where the unusual ceremony will take place.

Blanes: Carnival for Everyone

Blanes will offer a Carnival 2024 designed for the whole family and youth. Starting on Friday, February 9th with the Carnestoltes Party at the Nau4 Espai Jove, featuring artistic performances and live music. Saturday is reserved for family activities, creative workshops, inflatables, and a costume contest in the Plaza dels Dies Feiners. On Sunday, February 11th, the city will come alive with the Carnival Parade, a colorful procession that will travel through the main spots of the city.

Tossa de Mar: The Carnival Hangover

Tossa de Mar is not far behind in the celebration. From Friday, February 9th, the city dives into Carnival with a children’s parade, costume contests, and the first nighttime Rua on Saturday, February 10th, lighting up the streets with joy and music.

The week will culminate with the children’s costume festivity on Sunday, February 11th, and the traditional “Burial of the Sardine” on Wednesday, February 14th. But the real surprise will be on Saturday, February 24th with the “Carnival Hangover,” a Grand Parade that will travel through Avinguda Ferran Agulló and Avinguda Catalunya, followed by a

choreography contest in the sports hall.

These celebrations position Lloret de Mar, Blanes, and Tossa as vibrant and welcoming tourist destinations on the cultural and tourist map.
